Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the every day things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon.
— Booker T. Washington (1905, by Harris & Ewing; Public Domain)
It is important to dream big, to make big plans; but all the planning in the world will be for naught unless we accomplish the specific, individual actions needed to bring the dream to fruition. That space between the dream and the action is what T.S. Eliot referred to as “the shadow.” Your day may consist of the completion of twenty small, seemingly insignificant activities, but if those were twenty focused actions designed to move you down the path toward your dream, you had a glorious day!
