Fortune always favors the brave, and never helps the one who does not help themselves.
The world knows that P.T. Barnum was a showman, but what is not widely known is that he made it his mission to control the external environment to the greatest extent possible. All eyes were to be on him, and he would go to great lengths to assure this was the case. He wanted to be the subject of the conversation, and is credited with the quote, “there is no such thing as bad publicity.” When there appeared to be a dearth of articles about him in the papers, he was known to attack himself anonymously! P.T. Barnum could be called many things (which was his aim), but a lucky bystander was not one of them. What will make you stand out in your selected profession? What will get the attention turned to you? Make it happen!
